Tropical Light Artscapes

, Darwin, NT 0800

Description

Our 2-hour tour starts with a friendly welcome from your Walk Darwin guide and an introduction to the Tropical Summer in Australia’s northernmost city under the shade of a beautiful Banyan Tree.

Tropical afternoons in Darwin are characterised by dramatic cloud formations and the anticipation of nature’s light show. It’s a time of year when nature is ever present and life in the Territory slows to enjoy the rejuvenation that the wet season brings. We explore the character of life in Darwin through art as we casually tour the back lanes of the CBD where huge street murals adorn walls of city buildings, with plenty of rest stops to admire the view.

Our tour will take in the CBD light-art illuminations as part of world-renowned artist, Bruce Munro’s Tropical Light exhibition; his first City-wide light exhibition in Australia. We’ll learn about the inspiration for his creations and the stories which connect the exhibits to Darwin, together with unique artworks by our local artisans.
